Logan Community Justice Centre

Traditional court models do not effectively contribute to meeting crime prevention goals in complex communities where those experiencing entrenched disadvantage often end up being repeatedly charged with low-level offences.

We aim to start addressing this problem by providing a rigorous evidence base for the design of a novel Community Justice Centre in Logan.

Community Justice Centres can overcome the limitations of mainstream courts by providing therapeutic jurisprudence to directly address the underlying causes of offending behaviour amongst people experiencing disadvantage.

This research is funded in partnership with the AIBE Applied Research Fund, Logan City Council and the Queensland Department of Justice and Attorney General.
