AIBE is designed to link UQ researchers to key contacts within business, industry, government and the not-for-profit sector and to provide support for new research topics that fit with the applied nature of our research aims.

The institute can assist staff from within UQ and the Business, Economics and Law (BEL) Faculty to form or strengthen industry linkages through:

  • Grant funding - Providing access to funds for new research topics to BEL researchers that fit within our applied focus areas and display strong industry ties
  • Research translation - Undertaking commercial assessments, feasibility studies and strategy mapping for early-stage research and technologies including trade studies to assess potential research impacts
  • Supporting development of industry research projects
    • Identifying potential stakeholders for research partnership development and stakeholder liaison, including setting and managing expectations of research outputs
    • Assisting with the scoping of research plans, deliverables and research project proposals
    • Facilitating access to extra-institutional or extra faculty researchers to increase research project competitiveness

AIBE can also assist with government and CRC tender proposals and can work alongside Faculty and Institute Research Partnership Managers (RPM’s) to identify and manage industry research partnerships, including accessing research-industry schemes.

If you are at the early stages of developing an external research partnership or you are interested in exploring the translation of your research to commercial partners, contact us to explore the ways we can assist you.
